Nausea & Vomiting

Nausea and/or vomiting are common side effects that can be caused by radiation, chemotherapy, surgery or medications.

 

  • Eat 5 to 6 small meals throughout the day instead of 3 large meals.
  • Eat and drink slowly
  • Drink liquids between meals instead of drinking with your meals.
  • Talk to your doctor about medications that can help with nausea and/or vomiting
  • Contact your doctor if you are unable to keep down liquids

Try the following foods:

Gelatin

 Pudding
 Toast, crackers  English muffins, bagels
 Carbonated drinks  Angel food cake
 Rice  Vanilla Wafers
 Noodles

 Potatoes

 Eggs  Chicken, lunch meat

 Clear liquids (see below)

 Canned or fresh fruit

Broth  Popsicles 
Tea Sports Drinks
Fruit Punch                         Cranberry, apple or grape juice 
Gelatin Clear sodas
Ice chips

Water
