James
H. Stevens, M.D. Board Certified in Therapeutic Radiology,
received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology, with honors,
from the University of Nebraska. He received a medical degree,
with an Award of Excellence in Hematology and Oncology,
from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha,
Nebraska.
Dr.
Stevens performed an internship in internal medicine at
the University of Nebraska Medical Center (with special
training in the bone marrow transplant unit). He then performed
a residency in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
During
his residency, Dr. Stevens received the American Cancer
Society Clinical Fellowship Award. He was also awarded the
American Cancer Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology
Travel Grant for additional training in head and neck oncology.
Dr.
Stevens is a member of the American Medical Association,
the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology,
the American College of Radiation Oncology, the American
College of Radiology, and the American Cancer Society.
Dr.
Stevens has published and lectured on a variety of therapeutic
topics including: Pancreatic Cancer, Palliative Care/External
Radiation Therapy, Lung Cancer, and Intra-operative External
Radiation Therapy.
He
has published numerous articles in the field of Radiation
Oncology and has lectured throughout the United States on
Radiation Therapy for advanced endometrial carcinoma, benefits
of brachytherapy, and the role of Radiation Therapy in the
treatment of breast cancer and prostate cancer.
