As a pioneer in his field, Dr. Dosoretz has endeavored to grow 21st Century Oncology into a global oncology network, now the largest provider of radiation therapy and the second largest group of urologists in the U.S.
Dr. Dosoretz, working in the corporate headquarters in Fort Myers, Florida, guides the physician-led company that boasts more than 500 affiliated doctors and 275 facilities throughout seven countries.
Dr. Dosoretz has practiced at more than 15 hospitals and continues to see patients as part of a distinguished career that spans five decades. Upon moving to Fort Myers in the 1980s, Dr. Dosoretz was appointed as an Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Dosoretz trained in radiation oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he was named Chief Resident of the department. While an attending physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, he became an Assistant Professor of Radiation Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Research Fellow of the American Cancer Society. Dr. Dosoretz remains a Distinguished Alumni Visiting Professor in Radiation Oncology there. Dr. Dosoretz has also been a visiting Professor at Duke University School of Medicine.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). He is Board Certified in therapeutic radiology by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Dosoretz’s professional memberships include the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
Dr. Dosoretz earned his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine, graduating with the highest honors gold medal for his class. He has served as President of the Lee County American Cancer Society and is a member of the American Cancer Society’s peer review committee and state-level research committee in Florida. Dr. Dosoretz is an author of radiation therapy and cancer treatments textbook chapters and a contributor to more than 90 medical journal articles.
